Abstract: Nandigram police station under Tamluk subdivision of Medinipur district holds a significant place in the history of India’s freedom struggle. Nandigram police station, although a small isolated area of Tamluk subdivision, was a place of great terror in the eyes of the British. The Salt Satyagraha movement also took a strong shape in Nandigram police station as an integral part of the freedom movement. The civil disobedience movement gained a special dimension in Nandigram police station under Tamluk subdivision. In conducting the movement in Nandigram police station, women also joined hands with men. In addition, they spontaneously participated in numerous general women’s movements. One of the heroines among the women who participated in the movement was Chikanbala Jana. She was one of the greatest soldiers in the Salt Satyagraha Movement of Nandigram police station. Chikanbala Devi, despite being an ordinary village woman, she was ready to sacrifice everything for freedom. She was ready to break the chains of his motherland. Her contribution is undeniable.
